Minecraft dragon eggs are unhatchable.
They serve no purpose, other than as decoration which you can put in your house. It is kind of like a trophy for defeating the boss.
If you want to spawn another ender dragon in the end, you can do so, as of version 1.9 of the game. You must craft 4 End Crystals and place them on top of the return portal in the end.
Also, if you do not know how to actually obtain the dragon egg as an item, you must place a piston next to the dragon egg and push the dragon egg into a hole, as the dragon egg will fall as if it were gravel or sand. You must be standing close enough to pick the egg up as it falls, otherwise it will return to the block state when it lands on a block below.
Another method to collect a dragon egg is to let it fall on a non-full-height block. Like sand, gravel, and other blocks with gravity, it will break upon landing on the block.
