Minecraft Tips For Survival

Minecraft Tips For Survival:

  1. When you first entire your minecraft world, always mine wood immediately.
  2. Never dig straight down, always stand between two blocks and mine one at a time so as to not fall into lava or a pit full of monsters.
  3. When building your minecraft house or base, make sure to build good mob-proof walls around your house so as not to get immediately ambushed when you open your doors. Below is a good example of a mob (including spiders) proof wall.

   4.   When building entrances to your new spider proof walls try a mob-proof gateway! Build it as only a single block hole if you wish for spiders to not be able to come in either. While players are able to walk through it normal mobs such as skeletons and zombies can't. (Below)

  5.   Another generally mob-proof door that is useful for farms only (because spiders can usually get over it unless you add something at the top) is the following one. Just put two different fences next to each other.

  6.   Mobs do not spawn on half slabs.
  7.   When going minecraft ALWAYS go with at least half a stack of wooden planks. These are an extreme necessity and are a pain to have to go back to get if you forget them. You need wood for new tools, torches, etc.
  8.   Also remember to have plenty of torches on you. Like wood, its a pain to have to make a bunch of torches when your down inside of a cave.
  9.   A good thing to remember is that it takes 26 ingots (or other resource) to make a full set of armor and a sword. It takes 9 of any resource if you wish to make a full set of tools. So that sums up to a total of 33 of any resource to make a full set of armor and all the tools.
10.   Keyboard Inventory Shortcuts:
-Double click on any item in your inventory to gather all identical items into a single stack (or more than one stack if you have more than the stack limit of that item).
-Pick up an item and shift, double click to move to move all of that similar item into a chest or vice versa.
-Press crouch and left click to automatically move up to a stack of items into a chest from your inventory or vice versa.
-Open your inventory and hover over an item. Then press "q" to very easily and quickly drop large stacks of items.
-Shift, left click and drag stacks of items to evenly distribute them throughout your inventory.
-Hover over items and press 1-9 to immediately switch out or place them in your immediate hotbar.
  11.   Below is a list of what the function keys do (F1-9)
-F1: Hides minecraft overlay (inventory slots, arm and chat).
          -F2: Takes a screenshot.
-F3: Brings up minecraft's statistical information (coordinates, memory, biome, FPS, etc.)
-Shift F3: Brings up minecraft's rendering information as well as some other stuff. Press keys 1-9 while in this screen mode to switch between different graphs.
          -F3 and S: Reload web-loaded chunk resources.
-F3 and A: Reloads minecraft chunks. Very useful if your lagged out and/or frozen.
-F3 and T: Reloads all textures. Useful for if you want to change a texture pack but you don't want to have to completely re-start minecraft. Just press these buttons and you can do it instantly.
-F3 and F: Toggle render distance from far to near in that order.
-Shift F3 and F: Toggle render distance from near to far in that order
-F3 and P: Pauses minecraft, turning your in-game cross hares to your regular computer curser. You can then really easily open up other tabs besides minecraft without having the whole settings screen in the way.
-F3 and H: When hovering over items it will now show that item in-game ID as well as damage values.
-F3 and B: Displays hit boxes around entities.
-F3 and C: Hold down for 6 seconds and release to crash your minecraft. While this may seem extremely useless it isn't. If minecraft stops responding and you can't even close out of the window, you can do this and it will quit close minecraft down for you.
-F4: Disables any shaders as well as any Super Secret Settings you have on and it will bring you back to default textures.
-F5: Switches your perspective from first person to third person (facing forward) to third person (facing backward) then back to first person again.
-F6: Press this to stream using Twitch Broadcasting Systems.
-F7: Press to pause the Twitch Broadcasting. Also with Not Enough Items mod pressing F7 shows where mobs can spawn. Red x's mean at any time of day and yellow x's mean only at night.
-F8: Toggles mouse smoothing. Useful with the F1 function for an excellent cinematic motion.
-F9: Does nothing in Vanilla but with Not Enough Items mod it shows chunk boundaries.
-F10: Freezes your game but only for Windows. Similar to the F3 and P function this will turn your in-game cross hare into a regular computer curser.
-F11: Toggles between fullscreen minecraft and non-fullscreen minecraft.
          -F12: Absolutely nothing. Yay.
  12. Make lots of farms! Press the following button to find out how to build different farms:
  13. When building a nether portal always remember that you need only 10 blocks of obsidian not 14. Instead, just cut off the corners so as to use less resources.
  14. Also when going to the nether remember to bring a flint and steel with you. This is so you can relight the portal if a ghost destroys it. However, if you do forget the flint and steel remember that ghost fireballs will also relight the portal so all you need to do is stand in front of your portal while bating a ghost to shoot a fireball at you.
  15. Moving 1 block in the nether is equivalent to moving 8 blocks in the overworld. This is very handy when you want to travel large distances in the overworld. Just build a portal to the nether, walk a bit, build another portal, and your there!
  16. Look in certain layers to find your resources.
-Diamonds are found at y level 16 and below. Most are found in y levels 12-5. Generates in veins of 1-10 blocks.
-Gold is found at y level 32 and below. Most is found in y levels 29-2. Generates in veins of 4-8 blocks.
-Iron is found at y level 63-1. Most is found lower in that category though. Generates in veins of 4-10 blocks.
-Redstone is found at y level 16 and below. Most is found in y level 14 and below. Generates in veins of 4-8 blocks.
-Lapis Lazuli is found at y level 32 and below. Most is found between y levels 19-17. Generates in veins of 4-8 blocks.
-Emeralds are found at y level 31-4 in Extreme Hills or Roofed Forest biomes. Most is found at y level 10. monumentally rarely generates in veins more than 1.
-Coal is found everywhere. Most is found everywhere. Generates in veins of 3-64 blocks.
-Nether Quartz is found between y levels 117-7 in the Nether. Generates in veins of 4-10 blocks.
  17. Any block within 7 blocks of a torch is completely spawn-proof.
  18. Placing a carpet on top of a fence will allow you to jump over it, but other mobs such as cows and chickens etc. cannot.
  19. Snowballs are quite an efficient weapon against Blazes and the Ender Dragon.
  20. Jumping in a filled cauldron when your on fire will stop the fire, but it will take some water out of the cauldron as well!
  21. Digging straight up in minecraft is not a very good idea. When doing so, mobs can fall on you, gravel can fall on you, and lava can also fall on you. However, to avoid the gravel, you can place a torch on the block your standing on so it will destroy any blocks that are affected by gravity such as gravel and sand.
  22. You can technically breath underwater forever by placing a torch in the block your head is in. If you want a more permanent way to breath underwater place a sign down instead of a torch because they don't break.
  23. When searching for apples, always destroy trees in swamp biomes because they are more likely to drop apples due to the fact that they usually have more leaves.
  24. Instantly cook your food by lighting mobs on fire with a flint and steel.
  25. While regular chests cannot be placed directly next to each other, regular chests and trapped chests CAN be placed directly next to each other.
  26. You can move very, very quickly by placing a trapdoor directly on top of ice, then place blocks 3 blocks above the ice. Then sprint jump across.
  27. Right click on armor in your immidate inventory to equip it automatically.
  28. Your more likely to catch fish when its raining.
